Il casino di Ubuntuzilla

Chi conosce Ubuntuzilla, sa anche che combina disastri. Difatti se poi cercate di installare da pacchetto repository una versione aggiornata di Firefox, il risultato è che il link dell’eseguibile /usr/bin/firefox rimane quello della versione installata da Ubuntuzilla e il nuovo Firefox non lo vedrete partire.

In Ubuntu Natty è appena arrivato un aggiornamento per Firefox che risolve il problema (assurdo che una distro debba risolvere i problemi creati da un programma di terze parti…), con tanto di lamentela nel changelog:

Fix up the mess left by Ubuntuzilla rather than leaving our official
package in a broken and inconsistent state, which ends up with users
reporting bugs to Launchpad and giving us a bad reputation. If
/usr/bin/firefox has been diverted and there is no /usr/bin/firefox
provided on the system, just do the job of whatever package it was that
broke the users install and remove the diversion for them. This should
hopefully stop the frequently reported bugs we get from Ubuntuzilla users
about /usr/bin/firefox being missing

Un consiglio: non usate Ubuntuzilla, mai, neppure sotto tortura.

Anche se Nokia è passata al lato oscuro della Forza, lo sviluppo di MeeGo proseguirà grazie a Intel.
